i write poetry semi-regularly. i wouldnt say it's anything special, but it usually doesn't get published anywhere so i figured having a place for it on my website would be nice! the most recent poem will always be displayed just under this text, and then you can find links to other poems i've written below that

you can only choose one
☐ your favorite blue blanket youd tie around your neck like a cape. your mom took it away when you got to the first grade because you were too attached.
☐ the chance for your dad to take more time off work. he did it for you.
☐ one more day with your childhood cat. when you found out she died you hid behind your bed and didnt eat for days.
☐ to have been kinder to your third grade teacher. he died when you were 14, before you had the chance to tell him sorry.
☐ to unstick the stickers you put on your moms wooden furniture. she still hasnt forgiven you.
☐ an apology from your grandfather to his sons.
☐ to have gone to art class instead of hiding in the bathroom. you never thought you were good enough. you were good enough.
☐ for your mother to have heard you screaming that day just a bit sooner. or perhaps just to forget it happened at all.
☐ a flash drive with the stop motion animations you used to make.
☐ to hear your grandmother call you by your name.
☐ to go back and make a wish on your 7th birthday. the candles were getting wax on the cake.
☐ to relive that night when you stayed up till 4am watching your friend playing minecraft. you loved him and didnt want it to end.
☐ a hug from your mother when you asked her to help you find a therapist.
☐ to forget it all and start again.
